Sigh...and I like Transformers and thought the first one was alright...

So I saw Transformers and DIED laughing...

Whenever nobody else was laughing! Seriously! I BURSTED OUT in laughter in the full silent theatre of Frat boys and Drunken Dads & their familes when they went out the door of the museum at daytime---IN WASHINGTON D.C.

AND CAME OUT IN THE DESERT! MOUNTAINS IN THE BACKGROUND! AT SUNSET!

!$#$&%$#!

WASHINGTON D.C.! Turned into ARIZONA! Insane! Not to mention the scene ALL the scenes where the actors are faling about like pshycotic monkeys, spewing out unfunny humor (That the lowest-common-denamanotor humor made people in the theatre laugh, scared me in all seriousness though. Everytime I laughed, I died a little on the inside!)

So in this rainbow colored phantasm of fast hitting unfunny jokes and half-profanity, where characters pop in and out of existence, and jump around locations as if they were everywhere at once, there's also transforming robots. No, they're not characters like in the first one. They're reduced to silent vapors - haunting the background, if IN the film (You know...Talk? Which they don't do?) they are a shell of meaning. Optimus Prime's hallowed words have no meaning, no substance. It's an exploitation film. Nothing has meaning. Nothing is fake, real. Everything is a blur of reality- Like a drunk man's stoned dreams. You look into that colorful, yet dark, mess of incoherent visions and shallow imagery and you try to find something you recognize-ANYTHING to help you establish that you are real. Stereotypes wedged into shell casings called actors or CGI make you question if we are really living in a world free from racial divides, until it becomes so insensitive, SO offensive, that you feel like YOU are being stereotyped and are now some sweaty, vain, meatshell or metal car hopping around talking about profane things-without being profane. You're chasing plots that lead nowhere. You're looking into that filth-This mix of blood, gasoline, and sweat and you don't know why people are "getting this". How can the world be so crazy, so vain as to not notice that they've gone from a city to a dense northern forest in a matter of minutes? That one minute they are all fighting, and the next the Autobots are nowhere to be seen? Sam, now simply a stick figure to which all flaws a human can have are given, are rewarded. Encouraged. Megan Fox parades around lazy-eyed for people too drunk to notice that the only heroic act she's given in the movie is to give in and be the "weak one" who says her feelings first. Anything that had any meaning, again EXPLOITED. GONE. If decepticons can turn into mirror image humans, and live among us for long periods of time as a "Omg, look at teh hot chick!!111DOOD!111"...

WHY ARE THEY ROARING AROUND AS TANKS, CARS, AND PLANES IN THE FIRST PLACE? The ENTIRE point of Transformers, within maybe the first six hours of the film, denounces the ENTIRE POINT OF TRANSFORMERS!

In this foggy mess, instead of escaping into a realm of entertainment or being aware of metaphysical moral dilemmas, you are firmly grounded into the light of day. The art of Motion-Picture making, revealed before your eyes, being shamelessly flaunted as something cheap, something meaningless. Something that can be cobbled together and still be as important as it thinks it is.

And people think it is important.

People think it's funny.

And once again, everything, including real people around you in your theater, lose their meaning.

SERVO'S LAUGH TRACK

(Like I said, I didn't so much as chuckle at any of the jokes, however, I could be heard loudly laughing at these classic comedy moments.)

The World keeps on Spinin'

-As Shia and Fox talk endlessly, like a mobius strip of suck, the Camera quickly betrays a camera law which states that you never, EVER, do a complete 360 shot. Forget that, the Camera revolves COMPLETELY around the two- SEVERAL TIMES! I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it. Around, Around, Around, until finally...YOU SEE THE SHADOW OF THE CAMERAMAN ON THEM!

Good Luck with that

The robot they called Jetfire (That's NOT the real JetFire. He's cool. Not a stereotype and awful character.) sending them off-For no real reason. Why he would come all the way there, then send them off, and then-I guess go take a nap for the next hour of movie, and come back for the final battle. You crazy kids get going! I'm just a robot that shouldn't age...I mean, good luck!

Oh, and at that time..............The camera was spinning. Around, around, around, and around!

Makes me want to shout!

If this isn't a tell-tale sign that I lost all sense of control during this dark movie, when (in Washington, Arizona) THEY ALL TELPORT TO EGYPT.

I KID YOU NOT. SCREENWRITERS LITERALLY WROTE SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF...

"They all find themselves in Egypt-Telported."

I lost control. In the silent theater I accidentally let slip a yell-of me shouting "TRANSFORMERS can TELPORT!?!?!?" and a loud laugh after. I don't care if it was in some Transformers or if they made that up, you can't just spring that up-and act like it's nothing.

"There is literally a dozen situations we could've used that in."

Oh no! Giant ugly-came-from-nowhere-but-easy-to-beat robot is destroying the Pyramids! If only we had some kind of a Laser gun cannon...Oh wait, we totally have a laser gun cannon? Let's use that then! Petttoooooowwwwww! The End! No more giant robot because our aircraft carrier thousands of miles away had a super laser rail gun-And just happened to be in the area. Plot convince Playhouse!

"Haven't I been here before?"

Remember, no matter WHERE you go. No matter HOW far you drive. No matter WHERE you intend to go. You will ALWAYS be driving past the pyramids of Giza. Always. When you get to Egypt? BOOM, pyramids. When you drive cross country to get to the pyramids? Guess what, you pass right by the pyramids-Then get to the pyramids hours later. Going to Petra? You can see the pyramids from there. It's only a few hours drive, but can easily walk there in a few minutes once the plot is resolved there. Check out the pyramids behind you, right now!

So it's all about getting the Energon. No wait, it's about the knowledge in the cube shard. But wait...there was another one of those, and THAT one was important. Well none of that matters now because we need to get the Matrix of Leadership...Or was it the dust in the sock? Wait, they don't want Energon anymore? Now they want to blow up the sun? WHY?

Well that can't be good? "what about Beach Volleyball?"

"THERE won't BE ANY BEACH VOLLEYBALL!"

*IMMEDIATELY cuts to shot of HOVER BOAT IN OCEAN*

Wow, that was deep Steve...

Thank you for the random "In god's image" line. Sure, it doesn't really apply to this scene or the movie, and in no way provokes any kind of real question, but we just thought that this was deep when we were high, so we kept it in there.

You can just drop that anywhere...

-SPOILER ALERT, IF YOU CARE-

So about 3 hours in to the movie, they kill Optimus Prime, beloved cultural icon of a generation, and he really only appears in about two of the film's eight hours. As he (Guess what....) is being flown off in a HELICOPTER AT SUNSET...He's unceremoniously dropped like a rock.

*Kerthunk*

-silence-

*Bursts out laughing*

So that's what that is...

I quote..."It's got some kinda' weird alien tattoos on him."

Thanks for bluntly stating that, highlighting that it makes no sense.

You never talk about yourself.

So the worst part is there's like 40 new Transformers, and NONE OF THEM TALK. Seriously. Annoying ones aside, There's all sorts of robots-And they get no introduction or any explanation in any way. And now the Autobots you love have less lines and NO character development!

Wait.......what?

Optimus' speech at the end.

Huh?

In other words, Transformers 2 is the worst of the worst. Truly a testament to overall bad film making, which is when a thousand things that COULD be good, are ruined because of shoddy directing and assembled without care, thought, or emotion. You don't know how important a good director is, until you see a film with such horribly careless directing as seen in Transformers 2.

Sorry for the long review. But after seeing that, you need happy thoughts.

So it looks like I'll be leaving Florida in a few weeks-for a trip to the cold, dark, dank, northern land of ohio, for personal family reasons. So please excuse if I don't post too much as I prepare my mental state for the trip. In the meanwhile, Modern Visual Culture is here to cheer me up.

Hello? Hello? Anyone in here? Anyways, I've been extremely busy doing nonsensical things, but I want you to know I haven't forgotten you. On the contrary, I want you to look forward to several projects, firstmost a new video and A UNIVERSAL ORLANDO UPDATE.

Whew. Tough two days. Had a good time at Studios yesterday, but was extremely set back by stepping in human poop - in the middle of a busy walkway - and the assholes around me who laughed. May they die a thousand deaths aside, I was also just generally upset at the behavior of all these "Normal" people around me. Usually I get over it, but it really ticked me off yesterday. I'm getting really tired of crude people and caveman like behavior in public. Where's respect gone off to these days in this country? These are the many thoughts I was thinking of on my solo travels.

Anyways, waking up exhusted and being (Forcibly) made to get a Haircut upon (Forcibly) requests from those around me didn't make my mood better, but feeling better now with the worst behind me. Pressured into getting my shaggy hair removed, my new hair looks kinda like Madarame in the above picture...

Speaking of which, I hope to visit my Anime cool stuff shop tomorrow - Hope that goes well.

On a non-related note, 1 to 1 scale GUNDAM. AMAZING.

Late in the day of the East Coast no Servo would have expected that a new Haruhi episode was being watched, keenly and closely by Japanese Otaku. But there...across the gulf of ocean...in the late of night. Haruhi was being watched by Otaku greater than our own. Slowly, but surely, drawing their plans to upload it.

So right after my peaceful rain post yesterday, I walked outside in the rain to get the mail. Lo and behold, a magical Box from Japan was inside the mailbox! Finally have my own awesome Yoko figure. Still haven't heard any...ummmm...negative opinions on it, but like my Dakimakura I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I hear something about it. ^^;

Most people LOVE to shop for clothes at trendy retailers. But for Otaku like me, it's a serious problem. There's just something that makes us extremely uncomfortable being in just about any shop that doesn't sell DVDs, or figures, or at least electronics. Maybe it's the overpriced fashionable clothes and the prying eyes of trendy employees, or the overpowering smell they have. Fancy clothes and popular "look" styles are just not my thing. Just a few minutes spent with anyone looking at "hip" clothes makes us feel like we're up in thin air! Do we dare respond to the piercing glare of "cool" employees with their obviously ill-fated question "Can I help you with anything?" at the risk of losing precious seconds of air supply? I'll stick with being unfashionable thank you. What about you? Do you look uncomfortable in a Fancy Clothing Store, or start shopping away?

IN MY HONEST OPINION... I feel that Lost is a seriously overrated popular television show lacking a real story that means anything of value. Cloverfield is one of the worst films to come out in the last twenty years, and I do not take statement lightly. (Wearing Tom Servo shirt for Pete's Sake...), so here is what I have to say about "Star Trek"...

OH MY SWEET GOODNESS THAT WAS AMAZING! Just PERFECT. It's absolute proof of my long claim that you can give us the original goodness: The sounds, The costumes, The characters, and it WON'T BE CHEEZY. And it wasn't! It was perfect! Beyond perfect! The story was fine, and best of all the actors and the characters. I love the original Trek characters, and every moment was a real treat. Simon Pegg was so good as Scotty! Best of all, Bones! Every single one of his lines and acting was better than amazing!

Must go see it again.

Too many things done perfectly to talk about.

Sooooo...Abrams, I give you this candy bar.

You...You've earned it.

Now please go see it for yourself!

Yes, I know I've used Fig. 9Y before, but It's most accurate about this situation. For the wise, you may have already figured out why this image is true, my very own Dakimakura arrived! I couldn't be happier. Because it seems like only yesterday it was an unattainable goal. Who knew that life would throw the exact thing I needed to make it happen at just the right time? It's as likely as the planets aligning. That's why others may look exactly like Sasahara's sister here, while I will always look extremely pleased. Not just because it's an lovely item just like their posters they have there.

WDW is laying off a ton of people, and that's sad. I finished Code Geass, and as predicated: I feel pretty hollow because it was so great I got SO involved it emotionally. I'm still in yearning for that Dakimakura, but first things first: I must get a Figure.

So here's how messed up I am. You know the Battle of the Yoko Figures that I want desperately and feverishly? Well after looking through the New Contender's fantastic photo resume, I've spent all day thinking about which one I want more. Now here's the thing...BOTH aren't fully out in Japan yet, and Both are too expensive and hard to obtain. In most likelihood, I will never ever get either of them. So really this is a REALLY speculative discussion.

But I'm so narcissistic that even in my fantasy world where I can get either of these figures, my mind won't settle on "Get them Both". I HAD to make a decision, even though that situation is long away, if even possible, it was still plaguing my brain.

In the disappointments column, Bioshock 2 WON'T be Co-Op.

Today I took some time to print up s0me Posters to add to the Wall of Moe beside my bed, some might see it much like the scene from Genshiken above. (^ ^;)

If it makes them feel any more comfortable, should that lost soul venture into the lair of SERVO, I also have a new, full-size, not printed out, official WATCHMEN poster also on display. Though of course I doubt that they'd see it as any more normal I suppose. I love Posters. Call me an Otaku (Well, not much choice you have there actually.) but I just love decorating the bare walls with images of awesomeness that mean alot to me. It's also ever-shifting, and moving when I get new poster arrivals. A Geeky Room tis' of me!

Once again, since all the Mainstream Media are currently lying to you, Daily Show is now the only source of ACTUAL, hard-hitting journalism that without a doubt deserves an Edward R. Murrow award, and if the people who distribute that award don't see parallels between the McCarthy days and the last few years of the Daily Show, then they're fools.

In the category of "HELL YES", BioShock 2 will be Co-op fighting.

/Film is trying to fight for a film that sounds awesome.

After giving nothing but RATINGS to Cartoon Network, they've decided to put Code Geass, one of the best television programs ever, into a indefinite (AKA "Bulls__t") Hiatus.

I don't think enough attention is ever paid to the Mediums that get away. Like many a important media, twisted bureaucrats and greedy corporations are letting truly important and better things get away just because "The Masses" of people aren't watching.

The bureaucrats move higher.

The Masses move on.

The Ignorant look away.

Watchmen was Amazing. Perfect. Loved it. Exceeded high Expectations.

Though I was amazed at the number of small children brought to a late night showing of a HARD R Movie. Didn't they get the Memo? You have kids, you forfeit the right to see awesome movies for a bunch of years. That's just how it works. As Patton Oswalt said "We promised to have an Invisible child named TenHoursSleepADay, and he was going to be perfect."

People so generally annoy me.

On cool kids though, Kyon's Sister is apparently getting a Figma. Very nice, though I have no Kyon so...

JAPAN is cool. AMERICA is severely disappointing.

Ok, not really. Just getting in the WATCHMEN mood, since tonight's the big night.

Speaking of Watchmen, you have to check out the opening to the Watchmen Sunday Morning 1980's cartoon. HILARIOUS.

He's also made awhile ago, the AMERICAN AKIRA, and that was the BEST.

On the Figure front, GSC has teased us with a fanservicey Hatsune Miku, which lead me to it's orgins, one of the best vocaloid songs I've heard.

A discussion about Danny Choo's mascot being Dakimakura-ized really brought home the want (Well, need actually) for one. I'm usually not a fan of Pilliow Cases, but I need one and will not endure it NOT being a beacon of moe for my entire room.

Unfortunately their extreme high price and unattainably, and the amount of Figures and other goods also needed, I don't think I'll see one collected anytime soon.

I believe I could've summed all that exposition up into just one word, and an emote.

Watchmen is a scant 3 days away, and if you haven't already gotten super-excited for watching some watchmen, check out THIS site to watch the trailer again and check out some very cool character-based trailers that will be coming up in the coming days.

All is quiet on the Parks front, though look for an Update coming in the Wednes of day!

Though there's been no new enviable figures as of late, I've been enjoying my temporary position of power as my FIGMA's show off the new Mikuru statue that looms over them, looking super-moe and fantastic. The figures from MegaCon are just in time to brighten up the room with their loveliness for the next few weeks! In case you didn't know, my room is like Howl's Moving Castle. I just HAVE to add something cool to it, or rearrange something lest I go mad. It's a true Otaku Habitat!

-FIGMA are more exspensive and harder to obtain in America.

-You can't get the Miku program in America

-Kagami cosplays as her in an OVA, which (you guessed it) you can't get in America.

-It comes with that great annoyed face.

-You can put that great annoyed face on the regular FIGMA Kagami.

-I don't have the regular FIGMA Kagami, so it's all kind of fruitless really.

Beware the Weekends

People love Weekends. After a long week of working, who wouldn't enjoy two days of kicking back and relaxing? The Premise: Love it. The Execution: Not that great. For me, I spend all week facing trials and tribulations with a new mindset of confidence. Every week I make up a new mantra and believe that this is the week everything will be OK. It works!

Until the Weekend. Then the hell brakes loose. It's never anyone's fault, it's just that for me the weekend is when all the crap I DON'T enjoy decides to happen between Friday evening and Monday morning. Is it the weekend's fault? Maybe. Think about it...Saturday and Sunday are the only (Non-holiday) days of the calender that promise fun. I mean, nobody in offices say "Hey, it's almost TUESDAY! Can't wait!" or "Thank God It's Thursday". Even though, statistically, you've probably had more enjoyable Tuesdays than you've had "Fun" Sundays. Think about it. How many Tuesdays do good plans go awry? Almost never. You expect a Tuesday to suck. When in reality, you probably got some work done, watched some TV, spent some time on the computer, had a nice lunch or dinner and then went to sleep early or late, your call. Even though you may have had unwanted things to do, you probably did them on YOUR time, because others were busy. Now think about Saturdays. Oh how you waited for them...made plans with friends. Made plans for yourself! And how often have those plans been completely derailed to unforeseen circumstances? Often I assume. Friends can't make it, they have other plans. Other people force you into situations you don't want to do. How many saturdays and sundays HAVE YOU REALLY been in COMPLETE control of?

Everybody pulling you around on the weekends, most likely. So whereas weekdays promise suck, they actually have more of a chance to offer some nice moments of solitude and relaxation. Normality. Control. The Weekends? Promise nothing but fun, and when the fun doesn't arrive, where are you left?

Standing alone in the rain on a Sunday waiting for someone to make you do something you never really wanted to do in the first place.

So hopefully I'll feel better tonight after LOOK AROUND YOU. Thankfully TV shows are the shot of hard liquor that can always make annoying days a bit better. On Friday we have pure DOLLHOUSE happiness from Joss Whedon. And Saturday we have my stories, CODE GEASS , which is pretty much the best show ever and will leave me tumbling around in the wind due to hollow-shellness after it ends.

Over at WDWMagic my online home-away-from-home, it seems like lots of sighs will be shed over the loss of Jim MacPhee's departure as EPCOT Vice President. This is really bad news, because I think these past years have been the best in EPCOT's modern history. And in his place we get someone who was in charge of Magic Kingdom, and we all know how well off that park is nowadays.

It appears that Michael Cera has been cast as THOR, and Edgar Wright has been cast as the new Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider film. Great casting choices!

Oh well, even though it is another week not in Tokyo, Saturday brings me the ONE day of the year I really love: MEGACON! By this time in just a few short days I'll get a rare day of lines, comics, and buying the Otaku things that make me oh so happy with my few precious monies. So until then I'll just have to endure my sucker-punched stomach and aching back and wait for the CON at the end of the tunnel.
